Ben 10 Heroes was a relatively short development project with a small team consisting of a designer, an artist, and myself as the programmer. We wore multiple hats to complete the project, leveraging the code base from BeyBlade Burst Rivals for UI/UX setup, general logic, inventories, saves, IAPs, and analytics systems, including match-three board logic.
My main focus was on designing and implementing combat feedback. I worked closely with our artist to refine the general design provided by the designer, ensuring it met our needs while incorporating the artist’s feedback. A significant part of this involved integrating Spine animations and chaining sequences to closely match the television show’s style. We maintained alignment with Cartoon Network’s brand goals through regular calls with stakeholders and brand representatives.
After being live for 5 years, the game was removed from the App Store and Play Store due to the license not being renewed. While it was a straightforward match-three game, it was rich in charm and detail, and I am proud of what our small team accomplished.
