When I first joined Nerd Corps Entertainment, I was hired as a Junior Flash Programmer in the interactive department, where I worked on Glickersville, a Flash-based web game. Glickersville was a Farmville-style game themed around the show Rated A for Awesome, where players unlocked city blocks and laid them out to build their own town. What set Glickersville apart were the mini-games tied to the city blocks, which players could unlock to earn additional rewards.
My primary focus was on developing these mini-games, collaborating with another programmer to integrate the mini-game system seamlessly with the broader game. I was given the opportunity to design some of the mini-games myself, working closely with the art team to ensure they stayed within scope while maintaining our quality standards. The mini-games functioned similarly to those found in NeoPets, providing additional engagement and rewards for the players.
Unfortunately, Glickersville was discontinued due to the end of Flash Player support and the shutdown of the game’s server.
